Competitive Scholarships and Fellowships

If you are looking to further your studies or gain new experiences (especially abroad), a big hindrance is cost. That is why we are compiling a list of scholarships and fellowships for you. This is by no means a comprehensive list, but it is a great starting point. Most of these are fully-funded opportunities based on merit.

Scholarships

Chevening Scholars

The program enables outstanding emerging leaders from all over the world to pursue one-year master’s degrees in the UK. These scholarships are fully-funded (flights, accommodation, and course fees are all included). You will live and study in the UK for a year, develop professionally and academically, network extensively, experience UK culture, and build lasting positive relationships with the UK.

Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program

This was established by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to enable French higher education institutions to attract top foreign students to enroll in Masters and PhD programs. It gives opportunity to the future foreign decision-makers of the private and public sectors, in priority areas of study, and encourages applicants from foreign countries up to 27 years old at Master’s level, and applicants up to 32 years old at PhD level.

Émile Boutmy Scholarship

This scholarship was created at Sciences Po in order to welcome the very best international students from outside the European Union. It is awarded based on merit.

Knight-Hennessy Scholars

The aim is to cultivate and support a multidisciplinary and multicultural community of graduate students from across Stanford University, and deliver engaging experiences that prepare graduates to be visionary, courageous, and collaborative leaders who address complex challenges facing the world.

Marshall Scholarship

Marshall Scholarships finance young Americans of high ability to study for a degree in the United Kingdom. Up to fifty Scholars are selected each year to study at graduate level at an UK institution in any field of study.

Truman Scholarship

The Truman Foundation identifies aspiring leaders at an important inflection point in their development – when they are college juniors – and recognize and reward their commitments to careers in public service. If you are awarded this scholarship, you are also eligible for three fellowship programs: Truman Governance Fellows, Truman Democracy Fellows, and Truman-Albright Fellows.

Schwarzman Scholars

This is one-year, fully-funded master’s program at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China designed to build a global community of future leaders who will serve to deepen understanding between China and the rest of the world.

Yenching Scholars

The Yenching Academy offers a customizable Master’s program in China studies for English speakers with varied levels of Chinese language competency. There is an emphasis on interdisciplinarity and the value it assigns to thinking about China; past, present and future – from both Chinese and international perspectives. It also aims to push the study of China beyond the boundaries of traditionally defined humanities and social science disciplines, and is designed to incorporate the experiences and intellectual training of its diverse student body.

Fellowships

Big Bets Fellowship

As part of the Rockefeller Foundation’s overall commitment to invest $1 billion to advance opportunity and reverse the climate crisis, they established an annual Fellowship to equip leaders with the mindset and skills needed to advance climate solutions with breakthrough potential. Each year, they select a diverse and interdisciplinary cohort of emerging leaders who are working to reverse the climate crisis and accelerate opportunity for the most vulnerable. This year they are looking for leaders and their climate solutions in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Fulbright U.S. Student Program

This program aims to expand perspectives through academic and professional advancement and cross-cultural dialogue. In partnership with more than 140 countries worldwide, it offers opportunities in all academic disciplines to passionate and accomplished graduating college seniors, graduate students, and young professionals from all backgrounds. Program participants pursue graduate study, conduct research, or teach English abroad.

The program is hosted at Columbia University and the University of Chicago and empowers individuals with a proven commitment to service with the tools they need to make their efforts more effective, to identify innovative solutions to complex global problems, and promote change through values-based leadership.

The Thomas J. Wat­son Fel­low­ship is a one-year grant for pur­pose­ful, inde­pendent explo­ration out­side the Unit­ed States, award­ed to grad­u­at­ing seniors nom­i­nat­ed by one of 41 liberal arts part­ner insti­tu­tions.
